Vehicle Description For a lot of guys, trucks are a fun, easy, and surprisingly practical way to get their muscle car and/or vintage vehicle fix.
However, it's not often you run across a vintage hauler that's been brought back to life with such high quality like this beauty.
Featuring a full-blown, frame-off restoration that attended to every nut-and-bolt, this gorgeous 1970 Ford F-100 Custom pickup is squarely in the upper echelon of the hobby range - highlighted by a beautiful Chrome Yellow paint job, strong-running 360 V8, and a comfortable interior.
Yes, it's fairly obvious this Ford is too pretty to still wear its original paint, as precisely 3,000 miles ago the former owners spent good money restoring this truck (we have an itemized build list to the tune of $46k), while simultaneously keeping the rugged, hard-working look that made these trucks famous.
The factory-correct Chrome Yellow paint is actually quite sophisticated, neither too bright nor too drab, but rather a neutral color that looks absolutely awesome on the vintage sheetmetal.
Add in the off-setting white top and you have a classic pickup look that will never go out of style.
The honest good looks are something many of us grew up with, and the split egg-crate grille should look familiar to anyone from the '70s, while out back there's simply no mistaking it from behind as big white FORD letters are spelled out on the tailgate.
They took the time to retain all the original emblems, too, including the cool side marker lights that incorporate a Ford emblem, and the heavy-duty bumpers are new replacement units that act as perfect shiny endcaps to the off-yellow finish.
Take a quick peak into the bed and right away you'll see it was painted in the same quality as the rest of the exterior, with sheetmetal so straight and paint so bright that you'll think twice before hauling anything dirtier than a bag of groceries.
With that being said, the truck is still capable of putting in a hard day's work, and the full set of accessory chrome bed rails that not only look great but are useful if you're still going to use this truck as a truck.
The basic black-and-white interior is surprisingly plush and handsome for a blue-collar machine such as this, and thanks to the new two-tone seat cover, it's ready to enjoy immediately.
Matching white door cards with black arm rests soften the otherwise all-steel doors, a style that was popular in the late-60s and early-70s, and it goes rather well with the working-class look of the pleated seat and brand-new black rubber floor covering.
A fresh version of Ford's rather interesting horizontal instrument panel features a modest array of gauges ahead of the driver, and they do an ample job of keeping an eye on the engine's vitals.
A black vinyl dash pad looks awesome atop the stock yellow dash, and underneath you'll find an A/C unit adorned with woodgrain applique (as was the style for the Custom trim level) that's been upgraded to use R134a refrigerant, but admittedly, the compressor is original to the truck thus needs a rebuild or replacing to have dependable performance.
This truck also has power steering, and coupled with the big, restored steering wheel is reassuring for this big rig and makes wheeling it around effortless under any conditions.
The believed-original engine is a burly 360 cubic inch V8, which has been upgraded to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor that lives under a stock Ford Blue snorkeled air cleaner and between a set of simple stamped Ford Blue valve covers atop the Ford Blue engine, giving it a very clean look in between the satin black inner fenders.
The overhauled engine starts easily and runs smoothly with that seamless flow of torque that only a big V8 can deliver, making it the perfect partner in a truck that's built to move heavy things.
With only 3k miles on the frame-off restoration and tons of brand-new items throughout, everything is in great health, and because it still uses stock exhaust manifolds, there's no leaky exhaust soundtrack.
Underneath, it's incredibly solid and superclean thanks to a full treatment of satin black undercoating, with a recent dual exhaust system featuring stock-style chambered mufflers and chrome tips that exit under the rear bumper.
The C6 3-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly with the help of a recently installed trans cooler, and it powers a heavy-duty 9-inch rear end, so the hardware doesn't even flinch at the idea of real work and Ford's Twin I-Beam front suspension has legendary durability.
Power steering and power brakes ensure a great ride every time out, and the stance is still set to factory specs and gives this Ford a perfect profile.
Those handsome chrome wheels provide just enough bling, and they carry staggered 235/70/15 front and 275/60/15 Cooper Cobra white-letter radials all around.
Frame-off restored just 3k miles ago and ready to dominate for decades to come, this is an incredibly fun, dialed-in truck with zero needs and an awesome look.
All those elements don't come together at once that often, and the cars that do certainly don't last long.
