What you'll do

  • Responsible for the overall strategic direction of Catering Operations and Logistics for American Airlines worldwide (both mainline and regional operations).
  • Lead twenty (20) member team with oversight of two primary areas, Catering Operations and Logistics:
    • Catering Operations ensures the safe, timely, and accurate catering of American s worldwide network of flights
    • Logistics - oversees inventory levels and distribution of all equipment, alcohol, and food items to catering locations worldwide
  • Develop and execute long term strategic vision that identifies future cost saving and drives efficiencies within all catering and distribution contracts
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to identify continuous improvement opportunities in which to meet departmental on time performance goals, customer satisfaction metrics, and annual cost savings targets
  • Monitor regulatory food safety requirements and compliance by American s catering vendors and product manufacturers

All you'll need for success

  • Demonstrates the highest standards of personal ethics and integrity
  • Bachelor s degree in business administration, supply chain, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent business experience in airline catering; Advanced degree preferred
  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles
  • 5 years of experience successfully implementing large-scale and complex projects
  • High energy, results driven leader with the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to proactively identify solutions to complex issues, and influence appropriate decision makers
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills with a strong focus on attention to detail
  • Advanced business understanding, particularly in business process reengineering and development of key performance indicators for inventory management functions
  • Demonstrated success leading an organization responsible for catering strategy implementation
  • Experience with airline catering, the food and beverage, and/or hospitality industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large initiatives, including financial justifications and management, as well as execution of broad scale initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize and negotiate with vendors and establish critical relationships
  • Ability to attract, develop, and retain key talent
  • Strong understanding of employee relations, including labor/management relations
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to educate stakeholders on industry knowledge and trends impacting airline catering
  • Ability to maintain strong working knowledge of World Food Safety guidelines
  • Ability to retain impeccable ethics in the area of corporate governance, financial reporting, and team development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as with external agencies and business partners
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
