Navigation/Software Engineer Sr
Description:We are seeking a motivated, energetic applicant to join the Navigation team. Applicants should have a background in mathematics, basic physics, and be familiar with desktop programming. Applicant should have an understanding of basic systems engineering processes, be organized, responsible and willing to learn. Applicants must be able to work as part of a team, have good oral and written communication skills, and be able to think creatively to solve technical problems. Applicants will be expected to support a variety of test environments including on-site laboratories, supplier and government customer facilities, and occasional deployments to military bases or aboard ships.
Current Active Secret clearance with investigation in the last 6 years required.
Basic
Qualifications:
Candidate should have Bachelor of Science or higher in Aeronautical Engineering, Guidance Control and Navigation (GNC) or equivalent with 5
years of experience related to the design and implementation of Aircraft Navigation systems. Candidate should possess experience in the area of Aircraft Navigation, including a combination of understanding and implementation experience of navigation algorithms, navigation sensors, hardware interfaces, software interfaces, advanced position determination techniques, navigation and guidance operational flight program software development, modeling and simulation.
Candidate should possess familiarity with the systems engineering development lifecycle, including requirements decomposition, subsystem architecture and design, implementation, integration, test and verification. Candidate should be able to contribute to trade studies and communicate results of technical evaluations. Candidate should be familiar with Mil-Std-516C and understand how navigation contributes to the Airworthiness process.
Desired Skills:
Programming experience with MATLAB (Simulink)
Software development, including operational flight programs
Knowledge of aerodynamics, force and moment equation build-up, equations of motion
Knowledge of flight dynamics
Knowledge of navigation equations and guidance algorithms
Understanding of navigation avionics systems and navigation hardware integration
Experience translating system level requirements to the navigation subsystem level and to navigation subsystem vendors
Experience programming in C/C+
and embedded software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Good written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
