The Role:
Responsible for the leadership, innovation, and management necessary to facilitate the identification, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring of the University's risks.
Review and update risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report institutional risks, and to manage risks according to an institutional risk management framework.
Ensure the University's risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations, rating agency standards, and strategic imperatives.
Monitor and analyze risks, in conjunction with appropriate personnel, and report on these risks to the appropriate areas of leadership.
Provide risk management expertise for the campus community. Develop and implement risk management programs including the use of appropriate policies, procedures, principles and liability control measures to manage, limit or reduce exposures.
Obtain the necessary information and provide feedback regarding occupational safety and health regulatory compliance. Develop and implement policies, programs and procedures, monitor progress and recommends improvement pertaining to safety and health, hazardous material disposal and other related issues as required by law or regulation.
Process and monitor claims to ensure appropriate response from carriers, validity of claims, severity (including cost), proper reimbursement and closure. Maintain dialogue with claimants, carriers and conducts accident reviews or investigations, as necessary.
Ensure the safety and health of the workplace. Respond to campus safety and health concerns. Provide a means, such as a safety committee, which allows for employee participation and input. Develop policies and procedures and conduct training.
Administer the University's safety program by monitoring accident reports, conducting accident investigations, facilitating department safety meetings, conducting safety audits and establishing and conducting training.
Review, revise and negotiate the University's liability, workers' compensation, and unemployment coverage to lower premiums and optimize coverage.
Coordinate with the University's insurance carriers in the event of a loss.
Initiate, implement and monitor appropriate property, casualty and liability insurance policies necessary to protect the University's assets. Process renewal applications and review coverage to ensure adequacy and value.
Provide loss control services. Conduct surveys or provide other means to ensure facilities, property, equipment, work practices, policies and procedures to minimize or eliminate potential loss.
Background Profile:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

years professional experience in Risk Management
Experience with Insurance
Expertise with ERP system and creating spreadsheets
Experience in education background
