Summary:
The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for performing technical and clerical duties associated with the care and treatment of patients.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
Assists with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, accidental contamination, and protects the patient from injury or harm.
Obtains and records vital signs, I/O's, weights, bedside testing, and documents in the patient record as directed by the license nurse.
Delivers and obtains items from other areas of the hospital as required.
Prepares and assists with admissions, discharges, procedures, ambulating and transfers of patients.
Assists in monitoring adequate availability of equipment and stocking of supplies and equipment according to established PAR levels.
Monitors patients with restraints or on suicide precautions and documents as directed.
Assists and performs activities as assigned by the licensed nurse and within the scope of practice as outlined on the skills competency form.
Maintains a safe, clean work environment.

OR 3 - 5 plus years of relevant work experience.
AND Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
Completion of Unit Specific Competency Based Orientation Program within the first 90 days of employment.
