Safety and Occupational Health Manager

Summary About the Position:
The Safety and Occupational Health Manager will serve as the principal safety and occupational health specialist for the III Corps Safety Office at Fort Cavazos, Texas.
This position will participate in all facets of the Corps Safety Program, including program administration, coordination and evaluation, and in the formulation, development, implementation, and enforcement of the Safety Program's policies, directives and regulatory guidance.
This job is open to Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL) Federal employees who meet the definition of a surplus or displaced employee.

Duties Serve as principal safety representative and technical advisor; formulating Corps safety policy and procedure.
Evaluate a Corps level safety and occupational health program determining program goals and planning to include budget and staffing.
Develop safety program management and policy instruction to present throughout the Corps.
Advise on safety requirements related to ground operations and safe movement of war fighting equipment and materiel.
Conduct evaluations of subordinate units determining status of compliance with combat, combat support, and combat service support safety requirements.
Devise guidance policies for integrating risk management into various military processes.
Conduct trend analyses of accidents.
Evaluate efficacy of risk management procedures and provide guidance on safe behavior during command training, exercises, and maneuver operations.
Develop programs of instruction, lesson plans, and supporting materials for the Corps safety training program.
Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
This position is an Emergency Essential and Deployable position.
Incumbent may be required to deploy with assigned unit for periods up 365 days.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and annual examination thereafter to ensure required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties including heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.
Incumbent will be required to pass a military standard physical examination.
The military ACU is the duty uniform (when deployed, or in field environment).
Incumbent will be issued standard TA50 for use per local requirements.
Incumbent must be able to meet weapons qualifications requirements.
Incumbent is required to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.
S.
states or possessions to operate vehicles.
Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a U.
S.
Government Vehicle driver's license within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission.
This position has been designated a Drug Testing Designated Position.
Incumbent is required to obtain and then continue to maintain Standard Army Safety Program certification.
Continuous education and training in a tactical field environment is required.
CP-12 Level 1 certification must be achieved within 12 months.
This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes managing safety and occupational health program elements; developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity or cost of accidents; designing or modifying processes, or other systems to control or eliminate hazards.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).
