8 1 hour ago Full Job Description Qualifications Job Overview Under general direction of a Planning Manager, provides the department's graphics, Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), and Geographic Information System (GIS) needs.
Uses broad working knowledge of GIS, CADD, and Computer Graphic solutions to provide clarity with visual communications to support decision making and documentation of airport development recommendations.
Responsible for building graphics, layouts, and other exhibits using the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) including updates and maintenance.
Supports other department users working with DFW GIS systems and other CADD/Graphics tools.
Analyzes multiple data sources and provides effective visual communication solutions related to those sources and other Planning initiatives.
What you will be doing:
Develops CADD based graphics for Land Planning, Airfield, roadways, terminal, parking, and security checkpoint concepts to assist in expediting the decision making process.
Uses existing DFW GIS system to access data and maps related to airport facilities and layouts.
Creates and enforces standards and procedures related to all CADD/GIS activities for the Planning Department.
Interfaces with ITS/GIS staff to ensure proper translation of quality control procedures and technical requirements of DFW GIS system.
Creates presentations and exhibits for a variety of airport development initiatives, master planning efforts, special projects, 2D space/land planning, and 3D visualization.
Updates the Airport Layout Plan in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements.
Coordinates with staff and stakeholder departments throughout the life cycle of a given project to ensure maximum productivity.
Maintains CADD and GIS data/mapping libraries to support Planning Department initiatives.
Communicates to Planning staff the abilities and limitations of CADD/Graphics tools and provides user support for GIS applications.
Oversee and coordinates the efforts of graphics consultants.
What you need:
Bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
Two (2) years of experience in applying Graphics, CADD, and GIS technologies in problem solving for development projects.
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Possession of a valid Class C driver's License.
Proficient in CADD (MicroStation V7/V8 XM and AutoCAD) and GIS (ArcGIS V9) software used by DFW Airport.
Extensive knowledge of automated mapping methods, techniques, and cartographic principles.
Knowledge of GIS design concepts and database structure.
Knowledge of data conversion, translation, and transfer methods and techniques.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Studio Max, and Google Sketch Up.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing at all levels within and outside the organization.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside the organization.
Special Requirements:
This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport's Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure.
Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al.
, and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport's Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure.
An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
